Frequently asked questions

What will sessions be like?

This is your time and space to bring to the table whatever is on your mind. As a therapist, I will follow you and highlight areas of your life that sound like they might need more attention. Sessions are 45-50 minutes, and tend to go quickly, so don’t be nervous that you will not have anything to talk about…I promise, it will flow organically. I like to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into sessions as a way to learn how to slow down and connect with our inner knowing. Of course, these tools are not preferred by everybody so it is always up to you as to how we spend our time.

How long will I need Therapy?

Typically, we start off meeting once a week in order to build a solid foundation together. Most clients continue with once a week for anywhere from a couple months, to a year+. Eventually we will move to bi-weekly sessions, and from there, whenever you feel ready we move to check ins as needed. This process depends on each individual, and we will customize a plan that works best for you.

What if I start therapy and don’t end up liking it?

This is a common question, and my answer is always: you are not stuck here. If something does not feel right, whether that is the dynamic between therapist and client or you are no longer receiving benefits, please let me know. You are never stuck in therapy.

Do you accept insurance?

I currently am in network in California with Aetna, Oxford, United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, Quest Behavioral Health, Carelon & Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. I use Headway for insurance billing and you can start the process here: https://headway.co/

What is the cancellation policy?

I require a 24 hour cancellation in order to avoid a charge.

Will you ever go back to in person sessions?

No. I find that it is easier and more comfortable for clients to be able to join session from their own home. With that said, I will assess new clients to make sure they are the right fit for virtual therapy as in some scenarios in person treatment is the best option. I also understand if you prefer to find a therapist who can offer in person sessions.

How much do you charge per session?

My rate for private pay 50 minute session is $160. I do have two spots for a sliding scale ($100-$155) for those experiencing financial difficulties. Please ask me if I have any spots available for sliding scale.
